St Michael's, MaltonStone & Glass

Coats of arms

Small heraldic glass panels are set into several plain windows. They show the arms of lords connected with Malton, from Tyson (dated 1090) to Earl Fitzwilliam. They are not memorials to people buried here.

The panels were put in their present places in 1966, when the south walls were rebuilt. Before that they were in the clerestory, the high row of windows. Where they first came from is still being researched.
